Furniture Pens Are A Must Have

No really, they are! It is truly amazing what you can do with a good furniture pen or two. A scratch, nick, chip whether on a leather sofa or a piece of wood furniture can be made unoticeable in minutes.

However, there is a technique to using furniture touch up pens. For example, I have been to furniture retail stores and have seen them try to mend an issue spot by simply running the pen over it in a straight line. Please, don't do this!

The best thing to do is get a few different pens of different shades. A few shades of brown and atleast one with some reddish tint in it. Most home improvement stores will stock them.

Here is what you do:

1.) Clean the area with soap and water or mild cleaning solvent. You don't want to use a harsh chemical as it can damage the product.

2.) On a piece of paper make a stripe with the makers so that you can compare the mark to the furniture being repaired.

3.) Once you have located the closest color, mark the piece of furniture with the pen in a circular pattern larger than the flawed area.

4.) Before it dries use your fingers to help blend the area. Sometimes a good blend will take a few different markers to get the color right.

Once dry, you will be shocked at how long it will last.
